I didn't see any rust from what I can remember. I need to find it again on Facebook to get the details.

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
I thought the tires were 5 years old but I didn't look carefully enough. Ww were going to get some Yokohamas or Bridgestones but Mavis didn't have a set of this size; Costco has a set of Nexens luckily. The old tires were Nexens too. I still plan to put on those BBS RX rims in the future. https://i....

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
Tires were replaced. Apparently the tires were more than 11 years old. Once it gets warmer and dryer the orange peel needs to be buffed out.

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
Lookin' great! Thanks David, I hope that it gets warmer soon so I can do more stuff with the car. 225/45/17 should fit great. Size always worked great on a SRT-4 with aftermarket 17'' wheels and similar offset. Rim you got is 7.5'' wide. I would want to go with a 225 width. I think 17x8 with a simi...

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
Thanks for confirming the size on those wheels, I was worried that they would hit something. I guess the biggest question is the tire size. I'm holding off on the Neon project again because of winter. When it gets warmer, I'd like to finish up the restoration project and hopefully make it to Carlisl...

Man, I watched Asteroid City last night for the first time, and it was really really weird, but really really good. Christy said it was like a movie made for actors. LIke a film made for actor nerds. My gf and I are going to watch that tonight, sounds like a really good movie to see. Wes Anderson d...

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
They swapped mirror connectors on the 1gn's too. I ended up using a universal connector on my '99 to get the power mirror I bought to replace the missing one. Changing the door lock cylinder isn't bad once you get the door handle out. It is worth it to pull all of them, and lube the handle hinge. M...

Thanks David! I didn't get much update in September because I moved closer to work and didn't touch the Neon. So my buddy did try changing the driver's side door last week but come to find out, those side mirror connector do not match the SRT-4's side mirror connectors lol. Plus changing the lock cy...

Had the windshield moldings replaced last weekend. It looks much better now. I also snagged an r/t bumper in Manassas. I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to address of the driver's side door and rear bumper... https://i.imgur.com/DQFxvvnl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/O88mPghl.jpg https:...

Lol I keep an eye out for Neons whenever I'm out driving back and forth from work. Most of them are second gens that seem to be in pretty decent shape. I saw some srt4s in the past but not much anymore.

Re: Midnight_Rider's progress log
Glad to see you kept the car and doing some rust prevention work. It's a shame that our cars are rusting out like this and could've been prevented with just better materials. My buddy and I just changed the tail light gaskets for a much thicker one. It rained the past couple of days and there's no m...

Yeah I need to go down to Belcamp and get this car going. I have everything to update the suspension.
I'll be driving from Reisterstown to Columbia to go to work next Monday.

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
So life got in the way so to speak the past couple of months and now finally getting back to this project. First, we noticed some slight leak in the trunk. We'd notice a puddle where the spare tire would be so we changed the gaskets around the taillights. I don't know yet if these gaskets fixed it s...

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
Sounds like whoever changed the oil last didn't do a good job. A filter should not stick. Usually happens from idiots that over-tighten it. Same with the drain plug. I feel like you'd have to damn near crush the filter putting it on to have a true issue taking it off. Put some ass in it and heave l...

Re: Saving a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T
Happy new year!
No update so far. My friend was trying to give it an oil change but the oil filter seems stuck. I told him to get the oil change done and put on the sides skirts so I can swap him the Volkswagen. I'm giving him until the 15th of this month to do it.

Haven't been here since probably late September. Life events kind of took over a little but, even the Neon project is placed in the backburner. Hope all is well with everyone here. I got this 2nd Neon to hopefully drive it before it dies lol.
Only stuff I have from that old Neon is an old windshield ice scraper I used during winter. That's in the Neon rt now.

Got a new shifter and boot . The seafoam is for my buddy's Corolla. I could probably use it on the Neon.
I wasn't able to drive up to PA to get the floor mats I wanted. I'll probably try at the end of the month when I go up to Vermont.
