But I have a question... my Stratus had a special film that turned green to light up the cluster. You would have to remove the film and replace it with a homemade one out of computer paper. Do the Neon clusters have a film that needs to be removed or is it just replacing the bulbs?

Also, I want to have my guages be white with a bright red needle, is there a bulb that affects needle color? If not, I'll use importintelligence's needle kit (link).

Thanks.

Hey there. I know this is an old post, but in case you still wanted to know, there is a way to make your gauges white (or just about any other color for that matter without losing the brightness)

This is just a tease for now :slap: I will have a How To posted on this shortly. My response earlier was waaaay too long. I will post back in this thread when completed.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I did this (tried to), and i found that my bulbs in my cluster (from a 2003) where welded/ Soldered in place. so i used the sockets from my old cluster, and some fucking led fell inside the cluster (they where the 5-led) ones, and it is a tight fit to get them in there. it fell inside becasue i had to take the bulbs out to reverse them for polarity issues, so after juggling the cluster around for a while, it fell out (Thank god) and i called it a day..... will re-attempt this one more time today or tomorrow....

Yes, please!! I'm really interested to see how the white LED's look. I'm actually kinda tired of the blue.

holy shit wtf? You didn't have white wide led's in your pics? I thought the latest *updated* ones were of white leds in there?

I heard there is a blue film so just throw white LEDs in there.

Oh well here goes nothing!

Cool, the postal service has been playing hot potato with mine for about 2 weeks now.

I'm also trying out the odometer change from vampbydesign, that still on the way too.

Followed instructions...the dash came out exactly as said.

I'm waiting for the gauges to cool down. I've heard something about letting them sit for 30 min or so for them to unwind...idk. I'll let them do something else. Until then I got the LED's ready for install.

Just did mine today, very good write up. It really came in handy. Now if someone did a write-up on the odometer I'd be good to go... my first experiment with it didn't come out too good. :D

LOL i did the same thing, but instead of LED's i used 3 4" blue computer lighting kits and stuffed them into the cluster and used one of the old light bulbs to power them.

my 05 didnt have the bulbs soldered tho

The odometer mod I did from Vamp was simply a blue film that you slide under the cluster face to make it blue instead of green. Great at night, but almost un-readable during the day

Yeah I tryed it with some film from a school folder, didn't work. One layer didn't do anything and by adding more layers the green just got darker. Guess I had wrong kind of film. :D

VampofVegas. I found him on SRTforums. It is a film like they use on stage lights to change colors. The color I got was like a very dark-blue/purple

Yeah there's actually a link to his site here in the Vendors-section aswell. But I guess I'll have to go to the local music store to see if they can hook me up with that.

After I saw what it was, I thought the same thing. But it was worth the price, if for no other reason than to tell folks what to use :D

I originally used the inverted cone LEDs from superbrights, but I switched over to the 4 on the sides, 1 on the top ones. It works so much better. The needle illumination is similar to dante's. JohnnyMopar did this as well.

The "idiot lights" are the 194 bulb type as well. I suggest using an led that has a smaller viewing angle and projects light out the end rather than the sides. It'll help make them readable during the day.

These Wled-x4 from superbright would work well. You could do the x6 too, but those are about a dollar more a piece.

ok i just found out those lights wont work for me. they are just small leds. they are not wled
and they are stuck to the metal in the plastic some kinda pinch weld or something like that. but those wleds are good for turn signal and high beam.

does anyone know what kinda base are lights are? i am looking at buying some of the ones that are put together already. so are we a (t1.5, b8.5d, b8.3d) ????

I'm running Blue led's for my gauges and the high beam indicator, there pretty bright at night and visible during the day. I'm also working on building a plug and play kit to sell in the vendor topic :)

Sorry for leading you astray. I thought for sure they were the 192s as well.

You shouldn't have to remove the film. I didn't.

As far as the bulbs that don't light up, try flipping them 180.
